The King’s School and Carleton High School, both members of Pontefract Academies Trust, are celebrating GCSE success today.

Eight students from Carleton High School achieved an incredible set of results comprising of all 8’s and 9’s. 78% of students from The King’s School and 70% of students from Carleton High School received grades 9-4, including passes in GCSE Maths and English. A huge 96% of students received a grade 7 or above in Separate Sciences. Some incredible results to celebrate.

Dominic Pinto, Headteacher at The King’s School said: “We are extremely proud of all our students and the resilience they have shown, and we wish them all the very best in the future. I would like to thank all my colleagues who have worked hard to ensure that our students have remained focused throughout.

I’m exceptionally proud of how our students have navigated the challenges of the past two years. They have proven themselves to be adaptable, creative, independent, and determined – skills which will serve them very well in the future.”

Jo Cross, Headteacher at Carleton High School said: “We’re incredibly proud of all our students and delighted that they have reaped the rewards of consistent hard work. The students have been supported by a dedicated staff team and we’re all extremely thankful for their efforts. We wish all of our Year 11 students the best in their future endeavours.”

Julian Appleyard, CEO at Pontefract Academies Trust said: “I am absolutely delighted with today’s results and would like to take this opportunity to thank all our students and staff. It’s very pleasing to see that both schools continue to deliver strong performance for the community. These GCSE results come on the back of the outstanding primary school SATs results in July. As a Trust we have a family of schools that are gaining deserved acclaim across the region and beyond which is great news for our pupils, families, and the Pontefract community.”
